Dar, Wang Yi pledge closer coordination during Pakistan-China strategic dialogue in Beijing

Pakistan and China have agreed to further strengthen their coordination at bilateral and multilateral forums during the seventh round of the Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FO) said in a statement on Sunday.
According to FO, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, visiting China at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, went to Beijing to co-chair the seventh round of dialogue.
“During the talks, both sides reviewed the overall Pakistan-China relationship and discussed key regional and global issues,” the statement said, adding that views were exchanged on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), trade, multilateral cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.

Highlighting the importance of the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, both sides reaffirmed that Pakistan-China friendship is vital for the peace, stability and prosperity of the two countries and the region as a whole.
“They also agreed to further strengthen coordination in bilateral and multilateral forums,” FO said.
The statement added that both sides agreed to appropriately commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
Separately, Dar also held a series of diplomatic engagements in Beijing, during which he met his counterparts from China, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Egypt to discuss the regional situation.

According to an FO spokesperson, Dar met with Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China, and congratulated the Communist Party of China on successfully holding the fourth plenary session of its 20th Central Committee.
“Both sides expressed satisfaction over the stable and future-oriented direction of Pakistan-China bilateral relations and reviewed the inter-party relations, regional situation and ongoing projects under CPEC,” the spokesperson said, adding that they also agreed to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations “in a meaningful and dignified manner”.
The Deputy Prime Minister also met with Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Ding Xuexiang, during which both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the all-weather strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.
Vice Premier Ding appreciated Pakistan’s consistent support for China’s core interests and conveyed New Year greetings to Pakistani leaders and people. Both sides agreed to give further impetus to cooperation in various areas, including CPEC.
Dar also held separate telephone conversations with Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty.
During these contacts, bilateral relations, the development of the regional situation in Asia and the Middle East as well as the promotion of mutual cooperation were discussed. “All parties stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve issues and agreed to remain in close contact,” FO said.
