Pakistan, China and Afghanistan have agreed to extend the Chinese-Pakistani Economic Corridor (CPEC) to Afghan territory, marking an important stage of trilateral cooperation under the Belt and Road initiative.

The agreement occurred at an informal trilateral meeting held in Beijing on Wednesday between the Pakistani minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and the Afghanistan AFTANS Minister of Aftans, Amir Khan Muttaqi.

Officials have described talks as constructive, with discussions focused on the deepening of diplomatic engagement, improving regional connectivity and the promotion of trade, infrastructure and development.

The three parties called their vital cooperation for regional stability and agreed that economic integration was the key to shared progress. They also stressed the importance of fighting terrorism and working collectively towards peace and sustainable development.

During his bilateral meeting with Wang Yi, the Deputy Prime Minister reiterated the unwavering support of Pakistan to the main interests of China and thanked Beijing for his constant support for the sovereignty and security of Pakistan.

Wang Yi described Pakistan as China’s “iron brother” and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to the development of Pakistan and regional stability. The two parties expressed their satisfaction with the CPEC progress in progress and welcomed third -party participation in its second phase.

Ministers have also discussed improving cooperation in agriculture, ICT, industry and investment. They have undertaken to maintain coordination on regional and global forums and reiterated their commitment to multilateralism.

Vice-Prime Minister Ishaq Dar called for a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and cashmere dispute in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, describing it as essential for long-term peace in South Asia.
