Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the signing of the joint action plan 2024-2029.
Development is based on consensus reached earlier this week at a meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In addition, Pakistan and China expressed their satisfaction Thursday on the positive trajectory of their links and agreed to continue working in close collaboration on the next phase of the Chinese-Pakistani economic corridor (CPEC 2.0), with five new corridors.
Understanding occurred during the meeting of Prime Minister Shahbaz with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang in Beijing.
The PM expressed its gratitude to Chinese leaders and people for their unwavering support for the territorial integrity of Pakistan, sovereignty and socio-economic development. He also congratulated China for the accommodation of the SCO Council of Heads of State Summit in Tianjin and extended congratulations on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the success of the Chinese people in the war of resistance and the anti-fascist war of the world.
Stressing the role of the CPEC in the development of Pakistan in the last decade, Shehbaz stressed the need for early implementation of the ML-I project, KKH realignment and the operationalization of the port of Gwadar. He underlined a vast potential for B2B cooperation, citing agriculture, mines and minerals, textiles, the industrial sector and priority areas. The Prime Minister also informed his counterpart on the B2B investment conference held earlier in the day, which attracted more than 300 Pakistani companies and 500 Chinese companies.
