Pakistan, China reaffirms resolution to deepen bilateral links

Pakistan and China reaffirmed their commitment on Saturday to deepen bilateral relations and to expand cooperation in various sectors, in the midst of growing regional and global challenges.

The reaffirmation occurred at a meeting between the Minister of Planning Ahsan Iqbal and the Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Sun Weidong in Beijing, where the two parties discussed questions of mutual interest, with a particular accent on the second phase of the Chinese-Pakistani Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Iqbal congratulated the constant support of Beijing in Pakistan, in particular during recent tensions with India, and congratulated China’s management for its role in promoting world peace. He also described the Pakistani-Chinese friendship as being stronger “with each passing day” and called the China development model an inspiration for Pakistan.

The vice-minister of Foreign Affairs Sun reiterated the strong commitment of China to strengthen cooperation with Islamabad and expressed its satisfaction with the progress made by CPEC. He reaffirmed Beijing’s intention to further strengthen strategic links and deepen collaboration in political, economic and regional affairs.

The meeting underlined the long -standing partnership between the two countries, often described as “all times” and “iron”, and came a few days after a high -level interaction between the management of the two nations.

Last month, the chief of staff of the army Gen Syed Asim Munnir met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during his visit to Beijing. The Chinese Foreign Minister had stressed that Pakistan remains a diplomatic priority for China and has reiterated support for Pakistan’s efforts to fight all forms of terrorism.

Wang expressed confidence in the capacity of the Pakistani army to ensure the security and security of Chinese personnel, projects and institutions across the country. He also reaffirmed the preparation of China to work in close collaboration with Pakistan to implement the strategic consensus reached by the management of the two parties and jointly promote regional peace and stability.
