Pakistan observes the sixth anniversary of “Operation Swift Retor”, an important military victory for Pakistan Air Force (PAF) against India.

On February 27, 2019, the PAF managed to shoot down an Indian Air Force fighter (IAF) on Azad Jammu and Cashmire (AJK), following a series of provocative actions from India.

The events leading to the operation started a day earlier when India violated the control line (LOC) during its “Balakot strikes” by sending military aircraft to Pakistani airspace.

After India has abandoned a payload in an open area, the PAF responded by sending jets through the loc, by issuing warning shots and locking on Indian military positions.

When India tried to retaliate by sending more jets, the PAF managed to shoot two Indian planes during an air fight.

One of the Indian pilots, the commander of the wings, Abhinandan Varthaman, was arrested and then released in good will.

In recognition of their bravery, the PAF pilots who dropped the Indian jets received military honors, especially Sitara-E-Jur’at (Valor Star) for WG Cmdr Noman Ali Khan and Tamgha-E-Jur’at (Valor medal) for the Captain Faheem Ahmad Khan and Sq Ldr Hassan Mahmood Siddi.

The operation marked a powerful message on Pakistan’s commitment to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He has also demonstrated operational excellence and the preparation of the armed forces of Pakistan, reaffirming their ability to dissuade the assault and maintain control of the region.

On the occasion of this anniversary, the main military direction of Pakistan, notably the president of the committee of chief staff (CJCSC), General SAHUR SHAMSHAD MIRZA, paid tribute to the courage and professionalism of the armed forces. They reiterated the dedication of the country to ensure security and contribute to regional peace.

Military leadership has underlined their willing will to fight against any threat to national security, ensuring that the confidence and the confidence placed by the people of Pakistan are confirmed. The forces remain vigilant in their quest for peace, stability and harmony both in the country and beyond its borders.

On the other hand, the inter-service public relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani army, published a patriotic anthem entitled Dushmanna Sunn to commemorate six years since the Swift Retor, a key moment in the history of defense of Pakistan.

The words of the anthem were written by Ahmed Azem, while Kamran Allah Khan composed and interpreted the song.

The ISPR has described liberation as a “roar against any opponent” and a recall that Pakistan would respond decisively to any aggression.

The Swift Retorte operation remains a decisive moment in the military history of Pakistan, often cited as an example of the preparation of the country against external threats.

The birthday serves as a reaffirmation of its strategic defense and deterrence policies.
