President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Monday that Ukrainian troops in northeast Ukraine were fighting foreign “mercenaries” from various countries, including China, Pakistan and certain parts of Africa, and have deemed an answer.
Zelenskiy previously accused Moscow of recruiting Chinese fighters for his war effort against Ukraine, accuses that Beijing denied, while North Korea has also provided thousands of its own troops in the Kursk region in Russia.
“We spoke with the commanders of the front-line situation, the defense of Vovchansk and the dynamics of the battles,” wrote Zelenskiy on X after visiting a front line area in the northeast region of Kharkiv.

“Our warriors in this sector report the participation of mercenaries of China, Tadjikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan and African War countries. We will answer.”
Earlier this week, Pakistan stressed the United Nations Security Council for the urgent need for renewals of diplomatic efforts and a complete ceasefire in the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
In 2023, Islamabad rejected the allegations according to which Pakistan agreed to provide weapons to Ukraine in exchange for the creation of a bailout of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), affirming that the country maintained a “strict neutrality policy”.
Refutation intervened after the order, an American publication, said in its latest report that Pakistan provided weapons in Ukraine via the United States.
The publication supported its assertions by two sources knowing the arrangement, claiming that the internal documents of the Pakistani and American governments confirm the development.
