ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan has strongly rejected the Acting Afghan Foreign Minister’s claim calling terrorism an “internal problem” of Islamabad and clarified that Pakistan has repeatedly shared details regarding the presence of terrorist elements of Fitna al Khwarij and Fitna al Hindustan operating from Afghan soil against Pakistan, with the support of elements in Afghanistan.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan has strong reservations over elements of the India-Afghanistan joint statement, issued in New Delhi on Friday. The concerns were conveyed to the Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan by the Additional Foreign Secretary (West Asia and Afghanistan) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday.
It was stated that the reference to Jammu and Kashmir as part of India is a blatant violation of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the legal status of Jammu and Kashmir. The joint statement is highly insensitive to the sacrifices and sentiments of the Indian people of Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in their just struggle for the right to self-determination, the Ministry of External Affairs said.
It was emphasized that by diverting the responsibility of controlling terrorism to Pakistan, one cannot absolve the interim Afghan government of its obligations to ensure peace and stability in the region and beyond.

It was also highlighted that in the spirit of good neighborliness and Islamic brotherhood, Pakistan has generously hosted nearly four million Afghans for more than four decades. As peace gradually returns to Afghanistan, it is time for illegal Afghan nationals residing in Pakistan to return home.
Like all other countries and in accordance with international standards and practices, Pakistan has the right to regulate the presence of foreign nationals residing in its territory. At the same time, along with the repatriation of Afghan nationals, Pakistan has also generously issued medical and study visas to meet the medical and educational needs of Afghan nationals.
In the spirit of Islamic brotherhood and good-neighborly relations, Pakistan will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.
Pakistan wants to see a peaceful, stable, regionally connected and prosperous Afghanistan. Accordingly, Pakistan has extended all possible trade, economic and connectivity facilitation measures to Afghanistan. These measures aim to promote cooperation and socio-economic development of the two countries.
At the same time, the Government of Pakistan has the responsibility to take all possible measures to ensure the safety and security of its people. Pakistan hopes that the interim Afghan government will play its due role in helping Pakistan achieve this noble goal by taking concrete steps to prevent its territory from being used by the terrorist elements of Fitna al Khwarij and Fitna al Hindustan against Pakistan.
