Pakistan extends the ban on airspace over India until October 24

Pakistan has extended the suspension of its airspace for Indian airlines until October 24, the civil aviation Authority announced on Friday.

According to an opinion of the aviators (NOTAM) issued by the civil aviation of Pakistan, the country’s airspace will remain closed to all the aircraft held, exploited or rented by Indian airlines and operators. The ban also includes military flights.

The restriction has entered into force from September 19 and will continue until October 24 at 4:59 am. The civil aviation authority specified that the prohibition covers all altitudes – from the soil level to unlimited heights.

Pakistan closed its airspace to Indian airlines in a response in tit-for-tat to the measures taken by India after the attack of April 22 against tourists in Pahalgam in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and cashmere.

The restriction leads to significant losses for Indian airlines, which must take much longer routes to reach destinations in the Middle East, Europe and the United States.
