The Pakistan ranking in the World Happiness Report 2025 fell slightly, falling to 109th compared to the 108th position of last year. Despite the decline, the country continues to rank higher than its regional neighbors, India and Afghanistan, who are respectively at the 118th and 147th.
Published by Gallup and its partners, the annual report class 147 countries according to their levels of happiness, evaluated through demographic surveys measuring the quality of life from 2022 to 2024.
The performance of South Asia
In the region, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka rank 133rd and 134th, while Iran, despite the accommodation of a refugee population of 3.9%, is better for 99th. China leads Asia with high performance in 27th place.
World ranking
Finland continues its reign as the happiest country in the world, followed by Denmark and Iceland. The other Top 15 nations include Sweden, the Netherlands, Costa Rica and Norway.
Meanwhile, the United States and the United Kingdom have experienced notable drops, the United States falling to the 24th-this is the lowest ranking of this day-and the United Kingdom falling at 23rd, its worst since 2017.
At the bottom of the list, Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Malawi and Zimbabwe are among the least happy nations.

The report highlights the role of social support, income levels, personal freedoms, life expectancy and corruption in the formation of happiness worldwide. This year’s results also highlight the importance of “benevolence and sharing” to stimulate general well-being.
