On Sunday, Pakistan welcomed the last offer of President Donald Trump on Sunday to mediate the cashmere dispute.

In a statement published on Sunday, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shafqat Ali Khan, said that any regulation should line up with the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and ensure the law of the Kashmir people for self-determination.

“We appreciate President Trump’s expression of peace efforts,” said the spokesperson. “The Jammu and cashmere dispute remains a basic problem, with implications for regional and global security.”

FO’s spokesperson also recognized the constructive role played by the United States and other friendly countries to support the understanding of the ceasefire recently announced between Pakistan and India, which came into force after an increased period of military tensions.

He added that Pakistan remains determined to engage with the United States and the international community to promote peace, security and economic cooperation in the region.

“We are impatient to deepen our multifaceted partnership with the United States, especially in the trade, investment and development sectors,” he said.

The declaration comes a few hours after President Trump undertook to support efforts to resolution of the cashmere dispute and to considerably increase trade with the two nations.

In a message published on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump described the agreement as “historic and heroic” and declared that the two countries had shown “strength, wisdom and courage” by stopping what he described as an increasing assault.

“I am very proud of the strong and unwavering direction of India and Pakistan to have the strength, wisdom and courage to know and fully understand that it was time to stop the current aggression that could have caused the death and destruction of so many people, and so many things,” wrote Trump.
