Islamabad:
Pakistan and Hungary agreed on Thursday to strengthen bilateral cooperation in different fields, including diplomacy, culture and cultural heritage, in addition to repeating mutual support for peace and multilateralism.
The bilateral ties were discussed at a meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and the Hungarian Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, who arrived during an official visit. The two leaders also managed their respective teams in talks at the level of the delegation who followed the signing of the cooperation agreements in different sectors.
Addressing a joint press installation after its meeting and talks, DAR said that Pakistan and Hungary wanted to strengthen cooperation in agriculture, health care, information technology and industrial manufacturing, citing enormous potential.
He said that the two countries commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year – a partnership that prospered in political, economic, scientific and cultural spheres.
Calling Pakistan and Hungary of confidence of friends and partners, with linked links in the shared understanding of peace and development, he said that the two parties discussed the improvement of cooperation and the reading of regional and global challenges.
DAR reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthen the bonds of the “Eastern Opening Policy” of Hungary, developed under Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and aligning himself closely with the own vision of Pakistan.
DAR expressed its gratitude for the continuous support of Hungary to the GSP + regime and said that the memorandum of understanding and the agreements signed during the visit would give new momentum to cultural ties.
He said the two countries had signed an agreement to abolish visa requirements for diplomatic passing holders, further deepening government and people’s ties.
The Deputy Prime Minister told the media that at the meeting, he underlined the position of the principles of Pakistan on Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated firm support for the Palestinian cause on the basis of the two-state solution.
He informed the Hungarian delegation on the situation in Afghanistan and the associated security challenges.
The two parties underlined the need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine and the importance of a constructive dialogue.
In his remarks, the Hungarian minister farting Szijjártó praised the signing of the agreement to abolish visa requirements for diplomatic passport holders and expressed the desire for Hungary to intensify bilateral relations.
He stressed that mutual respect should guide international policy and that attitudes of judgment and criticism had caused global policy problems. He said that instead of dividing into blocks, international policy should promote connectivity.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Péter Szijjártó, called Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday and discussed issues of bilateral and regional interest.
The Hungarian Foreign Minister was on an official visit to Pakistan.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his good wishes to Prime Minister Viktor Orban and confirmed Pakistan’s desire to strengthen his bilateral relations with Hungary in various sectors, including trade, investment and energy. He also reiterated his invitation to Prime Minister Orban to undertake an official visit to Pakistan.
