Pakistan is committed to eradicating terrorism: PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to eradicate terrorism, saying that the country had adopted a several -part strategy to eliminate the threat of its roots.

Thursday, the presidency of an examination meeting of the anti -terrorist steering committee in Islamabad said: “The state of Pakistan is committed to eliminating the scourge of terrorism from its roots, and the world recognizes the successful operations of Pakistan against the terrorists.”

He stressed that Pakistan’s anti-terrorism strategy includes ground operations, legal reforms, public commitment and the fight against extremist ideologies. He ordered the committee to ensure strong coordination between the federal and provincial authorities and a strict implementation of recommendations.

The Prime Minister also welcomed the Armed Forces of Pakistan for their role in major operations such as Zarb-E-Azb, Radd-Ul-Fasaad, and the recently concluded Marka-E-Haq, which he described as a “historic battle” recognized worldwide as a major success.

“The whole nation, including the families of officers and staff who sacrificed their lives for the fatherland, is proud of their bravery and altruism,” he said.

Sharif has recognized the contributions of provincial governments, the Intelligence Office, the Ministry of the Interior and the Departments to Combat Terrorism – in particular the CTD of Punjab – in the fight against terrorism.

He said Pakistan is implementing a complete strategy to dismantle anti-social elements, notably “Fitna al-Hinstan” and “Khawarij”.

Addressing economic security, the Prime Minister said that the coordinated efforts of the relevant institutions had considerably slowed down smuggling, which had a positive impact on the national economy.

He highlighted the importance of peace and security to restore investors’ confidence, citing digitization reforms, tax system improvements and an increase in the Pakistan scholarship as signs of increasing economic stability.

Sharif also said that the repatriation of Afghan nationals illegally residing in Pakistan was carried out effectively and in accordance with international laws.

The meeting was followed by Vice-Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Staff of the Army, Marshal General Syed Asim Munnir, National Security Advisor, LT Gen Muhammad Asim Malik, Ministers, Provincial Secretaries in Chief, Police General and other officials.
