Pakistan Land Port Authority Bill sails through NA

Islamabad:

The National Assembly adopted Pakistan Land Port Authority Bill, 2025 on Thursday with dozens of amendments proposed by the PPP legislator Syed Naveed Qamar.

The bill was controlled by the Minister of State in the Interior and the narcotics Talal Chauhdry in the House.

Syed Naveed Qamar proposed certain amendments in clauses 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 11, 14, 16,18,20, 21, 22, 23, 23, 23, 29, 35, 37 and 38, which were all adopted by the Chamber after the Minister did not raise any object.

The statement of objects and reasons indicates that it is appropriate to establish a port authority to provide and administer an integrated system of installations for the cross -border movement of goods and passengers in the land ports of Pakistan in order to make arrangements for its operation, the management, the development of the land port and questions related to the question and the plate.

It is imperative to establish a robust mechanism to carry out effective coordination with border agencies for the facilitation of exchanges in accordance with the commitments of Pakistan within the framework of international agreements and conventions for increased efficiency of the land port and regional competitiveness of regional ports.
