Pakistan observes the day of cashmere solidarity on Wednesday to reaffirm its commitment to the fight of the cashmere people for self -determination, as indicated in the United Nations resolutions.
The day, marked by a public holiday every year on February 5, saw walks of solidarity and human channels formed across the country, including in Jammu-et-Cachemire occupied by illegally (iiojk).
The government and the people of Pakistan are united to IIIOJK residents in their struggle for the freedom of Indian subjugation. Gatherings took place in various cities, an important event taking place on Constitution avenue in Islamabad.
A minute of silence was observed at 10 a.m. to honor the Martyrs of Kashmir, with sounding sirens across the country.
The legislative assembly of IIOJK summoned a special session in Muzaffarabad to express its solidarity with the Kashmiris, while the human chains were formed in key places such as Mangla, Kohala, Bararkot, Azad Pattan and Holar, symbolizing the ‘Unit between Pakistan and Iiojk.
Special events also took place in Mangla Bridge in Mirpur and in the districts of Kotli and Bhimber.
President Asif Ali Zardari, in his message for the day, urged the international community to honor its responsibilities and to help the cashmeric in their struggle. He called on the United Nations to keep his promises made 78 years ago concerning the law of the region for self -determination.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed the importance of the day in the reaffirmation of Pakistan support in Cashmiris. “The right to self-determination is a fundamental principle of international law. We are next to the cashmere people to decide on their own future,” he said.
The Prime Minister also condemned the illegal measures taken by India in IIOJK, in particular the abolition of political parties and human rights violations.
In his speech, Prime Minister Shehbaz called for international pressure on India to allow cashmiris to exercise their right to self -determination, stressing that sustainable peace in South Asia can only be achieved if India ceases to suppress the aspirations of the cashmere people.
The Pakistani army has also reaffirmed its support for the cause of cashmere. The president of the committee of chief staff, General SAHUR SHAMSHAD, alongside the heads of services, expressed his solidarity with the inhabitants of the IIOJK.
The soldiers condemned the serious violations of human rights occurring in the region, in particular extrajudicial killings, forced disappearances and arbitrary detentions. “We are strongly urging the international community to take decisive measures and to ensure the implementation of the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council,” said the military spokesman.
