The 26th anniversary of the martyrdom of the hero of the Kargil war, Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed, Nishan-E-Haider recipient, is observed through Pakistan today.
Havildar Lalak Jan established his life in July 1999 while valiantly defending his post during the Kargil conflict. Despite critical injuries, he refused the evacuation and continued to repel enemy attacks until he embraces martyrdom.
Inter-service public relations (ISPR) said that the heritage of Lalak Jan is a lasting source of inspiration for current and future generations of the armed forces of Pakistan.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to Lalak Jan Shaheed, recognizing his courage and altruism.
The president said that the martyr’s sacrifice remains a brilliant example of determination and that we will remember the golden words in the history of the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Lalak Jan has foiled the harmful creations of the enemy regardless of his own life and made the ultimate sacrifice.
He added that Lalak Jan’s courage could not be shaken by enemy assault.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed that the sacrifices of the martyrs of Pakistan and their families are a source of national pride, and the whole nation is firmly standing with the armed forces.
In a joint message, the chief of staff of the Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, president of the Chief of the Chief of the Chief Staff, the Chief of the Air Staff and the Armed Staff and the Armed Forces have paid tribute sincere to Lalak Jan Shaheed, recognizing his bravery, his dedication and his unshakable sacrifice.
