Islamabad:
Pakistan joined the international community on Thursday to solemnly mark the International Day of Souvenir and Tribute to the victims of terrorism, reiterating its unshakable commitment to eliminate the scourge in all its forms and demonstrations.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shafqat Ali Khan, in a statement, said that the day recalls the collective responsibility to solidarize with the victims of terrorism, to honor their memory and to reaffirm the global resolution against this threat.
He noted that Pakistan was one of the countries most affected by terrorism, undergoing more than 90,000 victims and economic losses greater than $ 150 billion.
“Our security forces and our people have shown unrivaled resilience and have made immense sacrifices to protect not only our homeland but also regional and global peace,” he added.
Ambassador Khan recalled recent terrorist incidents, including the attack by Jaffar Express and the bombing of a school bus in Khuzdar. He stressed that terrorism in Pakistan is not an isolated phenomenon but “orchestrated, planned and executed through the borders”.
