- AOAV points out 67,026 world victims of explosive weapons in 2024.

Pakistan has placed seventh in the world for civilian victims of explosive weapons in 2024, according to a new British explosive report Violence Monitor, Action on Armed Violence (AOAV), which has recorded the highest world of violence since 2010.
The AOAV documented 67,026 deaths and injuries of explosive weapons worldwide last year. Among these, 59,524 were civilians – representing 89% of the total. Civil deaths amounted to 24,147.
The report described 2024 as “the most harmful year for civilians” since the start of the project to monitor explosive violence. Compared to 2023, world incidents increased by 29%, 69%civilian victims and civil deaths by 50%.
In Pakistan, AOAV recorded 790 civilian victims, including 210 killed, out of 248 incidents – a 14% increase in incidents of 218 the previous year. The civilian victims fell 9% compared to 870 in 2023, while deaths dropped by 16% compared to 249. The victims of armed actors totaled 686, down 24% compared to 899.
AOAV noted that “2024 has seen the greatest number of incidents recorded in Pakistan since 2014” and the second largest number of civilian victims since 2018.
Non -state actors were 76% responsible (603) of the civilian victims of Pakistan. Among them, the non -known non -state actors represented 54% (423), a decrease of 541 in 2023. The Balutchistan Liberation Army (Bla) was linked to 119 civilian victims – up 440% compared to the previous year – and represented 15% of the total.
Meanwhile, Daesh Khorasan was responsible for 45 victims, against 194. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) caused 102.
IEDS and suicide bombings
Pakistan recorded the second highest civilian toll in the world from IED attacks, with 485 victims (139 killed) on 132 incidents. This marked a 30% decrease in civilian victims, but an increase of 8% in the number of incidents linked to the IED.
The suicide attacks represented 103 civilian victims (21 killed) out of 9 incidents, a drop of 67% of 27 incidents in 2023 – the lowest number since 2021. All suicide attacks have been carried out by non -state actors. The Bla was responsible for 2 of the 9 suicide bombings, but represented 89% (92) of civil damage which result. On average, suicide attacks in Pakistan harmed 11.4 civilians per attack and killed 2.3.
AOAV also noted a sharp increase in victims of weapons launched on the ground, which caused 217 civilian victims – 27% of the total – representing an increase of 54% compared to 2023.
Pakistan continues to undergo high levels of explosive violence compared to recent years. The last incident occurred last week when a powerful explosion of militants supported by India targeted a school bus near zero point in the Khuzdar of Balutchistan. At least six, including four students, were martyred and dozens of other injured.
The South West province as well as the neighboring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remain the most affected by terrorism.
Pakistan promised a “decisive” response to the attack by Fitna al-Hinstan and warned that the authors would not succeed in their objectives.
