The chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, said that Pakistan was able to “take off” despite the opposition criticisms, when she accused Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI) of promoting chaos and to harm the economy.
Speaking during a checking ceremony for the CM Punjab Asaan Karobaar program, Maryam said that the Pakistanis were assisted by improvements in their lives. “The inhabitants of Pakistan are fed up with violence and chaos,” she said.
She criticized the former government led by the PTI for having led inflation to 38%, alleging that their policies frightened foreign investors.
Stressing the infrastructure initiatives of his government, Maryam said that Punjab is currently building 700 roads. In an apparent reference to the founder of PTI, Imran Khan, she rejected criticism that the construction of roads does not contribute to economic growth.
“If the construction of roads does not provide development, can the seat and the burn bring it?” She asked. She said that young people now understood who was responsible for their difficulties.
“It is very easy to accuse someone and to launch insults,” she said, adding that “time has changed quickly, and this person is now locked in Adiala prison”, in a Clear reference to Imran Khan.
Maryam said Pakistan could not afford more political chaos, warning that not ensuring that progress is pushing many young people in despair.
“The opposition is not able to digest the progress of Punjab … Their policy has reached the point of slapming,” she said, referring to the recent physical altercation between Fawad Chaudhry and the ShoaiB Shaheen lawyer.
Discussing the Asaan Karobaar program, Maryam said that the Punjab government offered uninteresting loans ranging from 1 million rupees to 30 million rupees to help companies develop. “Loans are 100%offered … No favoritism will work,” she said.
She recognized that job creation was a challenge but insisted that the economy had improved in the past year, with the standard of living of people. “When we came to power, the inflation rate was 38%, which is now reduced to 4%,” she said.
The Punjab government has received 185,000 commercial loans, she said, saying that companies grow, employment possibilities will increase.
