Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthen his relations with the United States at a meeting with American affairs Natalie Baker in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The PM stressed the importance of continuous close cooperation between Pakistan and the United States, especially in the fields of counter-terrorism, to deal with emerging threats posed by groups such as Daesh and Fitna al-Khawarij .
“Pakistan and the United States should continue to work in close collaboration, in particular in the field of the fight against terrorism,” he said, highlighting the need for sustained collaboration to fight against the challenges of shared security.
In addition to security problems, Prime Minister Shehbaz stressed the importance of expanding trade and cooperation in fields such as IT, agriculture, health, education and energy.
He expressed a strong desire to improve bilateral links and stressed that these areas of mutual interest offer important opportunities for additional collaboration.
In her remarks, Natalie Baker thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz for the warm reception and has transmitted the intention of the US administration to work with Pakistan towards shared objectives.
“The new administration is committed to working with Pakistan to strengthen our bilateral relationship and pursue common goals,” said Baker.
