Pakistan knew its second April in April in 65 years in 65 years, the average temperatures amounting above historical standards, revealed meteorological data, as the experts warned against an imminent climate emergency.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department said that average temperatures nationwide in April 2025 were 3.37 ° C higher than the long -term standard.
Diurnal summits were particularly serious, with maximum average temperatures of 4.66 ° C above the usual levels.
The hottest day of the month was recorded on April 17 in Shaheed Benazirabad (formerly Nawabshah), where Mercury struck 49 ° C.
Night temperatures have also increased considerably, with an average of 2.57 ° C above the historic standard, said the ministry, indicating a broader change in regional climate models.
Experts connect the anomaly to accelerate the effects of global warming and inadequate mitigation efforts.
“It is not only the heat, it is the signal of an in -depth climate crisis,” said an environment scientist in Islamabad.
Adding to pressure, April also experienced an alarming reduction of 59% of precipitation compared to the national average, intensifying the drought conditions in already vulnerable areas.
Meteorologists say that combined heat and drought have increased risks of water shortages, crop failure and public health emergencies.
“If effective and immediate measures are not taken, the coming months could be even worse.”
Environmental activists urge the authorities to speed up adaptation strategies, improve water resources management and strengthen public awareness of climate resilience.
Pakistan, which contributes less than 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions, remains among the countries most at risk of climate change, according to international studies.
