Islamabad:
Pakistan has questioned Israel’s commitment to peace in the Middle East, while the United Nations Security Council condemned the recent strikes of the Jewish State on the capital of Qatar Doha, Islamabad indicating clearly that he was fully able to defend himself against any external threat.
Pakistan also retaliated after the Zionist state defended its Doha strikes, rejecting the strong conviction Thursday by most members of the United Nations Security Council against his assault against Qatar while affirming that the American action against Osama bin Laden had not criticized.
This sparked a heated exchange between the two opponents. Pakistan does not recognize Israel and is at the forefront of the defense of a free Palestinian state at International Fora.
The exchange took place during the debate of the Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, summoned by Pakistan, Algeria and Somalia, under the South Korean presidency.
“It is unacceptable, in fact, ridiculous, for an attacker, an occupant, a serial offender from the Charter of the United Nations and international law – it is Israel – to abuse this room and to lack respect the sacredness of this council,” said Ambassador Asim Iftikhar.
“By pointing to the others, baseless affirmations, mainly aimed at hiding its own illegal actions and violations of international law,” he told the council of 15 members.
Pakistan also wondered if the release of hostages held by Hamas was a priority for Israel. “It is obvious that Israel, the occupying power, is determined to do everything to undermine and explode all the possibilities of peace,” said Ahmad Ambassador to the Council.
For his defense of his attack on Qatar “illegal and unlike”, the Israeli ambassador Danny Dannon remained provocative, claiming that there was no sanctuary for the terrorists, not in Gaza, not in Tehran, not in Doha.
“There is no immunity for the terrorists. The story will not be nice for the accomplices. Either Qatar condemns Hamas, expels Hamas and bears justice in Hamas, or Israel,” he warned.
In a difficult reply, ambassador Ahmad said: ” [Israel] is an occupant who does not listen to anyone; This does not take any advice, even of his friends, if he remains; This refutes, and not only refutes, he threatens members of the international community, international media, international human rights and humanitarian organizations, does not listen to the ICJ or the CPI, and threatens the UN and its senior officials; And that does this with impunity.
“Bounded by his apologists, who have over and over again in his illegal actions and his challenge of the international community. And like all the occupants, although he is the aggressor, he pretended and plays the victim, but today, he is completely exposed.”
About the incident not linked to Bin Laden and the deceptive remarks of the Israeli envoy concerning Pakistan, ambassador Ahmad said he had done so in order to justify his own illegal actions and violations of international law.
In fact, he rejected the false analogy. “Pakistan’s position on this incident has been clearly indicated and is accessible to the public,” said the Pakistani envoy, adding: “The international community is well aware of the role and sacrifices of Pakistan in the fight of the international community against terrorism.
“The whole world, including our partners, recognizes that Al-Qaeda has been largely decimated due to the efforts to combat Pakistan terrorism. And we remained committed in this global collective company.
“It is, in fact, the author of the worst type of state terrorism that we are witnessing in Gaza, and in fact, in the Palestinian territories occupied for decades,” said the Pakistani envoy.
“For all the ways that interpret these declarations in this council, the power of occupation must go back and carefully read the declaration published by the Security Council today.”
In Islamabad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday that Pakistan followed developments in the Middle East and clearly indicated that it was entirely able to defend itself against any external threat.
During his weekly briefing, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shafqat Ali Khan, was asked if Pakistan was concerned about the way Israel extended his military maneuvers such as the launch of strikes in Qatar.
Without explicitly mentioning Israel, he replied: “What is going on at the moment in the Middle East, which is our immediate neighborhood, we follow him very closely. But let me be absolutely clear, Pakistan is fully able to defend itself against any external threat.”
“Pakistan remains a responsible nuclear state and a regional peace and stability supporter. However, any mishap or threat to the sovereignty of Pakistan and territorial integrity will meet with a resolute response,” he warned.
Ambassador Khan denounced what he called “the insinuations of an irresponsible rogue state”, accusing Israel of having committed “the worst type of state terrorism” in Gaza and through the Palestinian territories occupied for decades. He also pointed out that Pakistan rejects any “false analogy”, echoing the position adopted by Qatar to the Council.
He urged the Israeli delegation to read the last declaration of the Security Council carefully, which he described as “adopted unanimously”, although he added that he “should have been stronger”.
The spokesman said the statements issued by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Dar-Prime Minister Ishaq Dar were very clear that the repeated Israeli attacks against sovereign states in the region were a serious question, not only for the Muslim omitée but also for the broader international community.
“These provocations represent a dangerous scheme which threatens regional peace and security. The question was actively addressed within the OIC, whose Member States strongly condemned the aggression and expressed their full solidarity with the affected countries, more recently, Qatar.”
The spokesman said that an extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit was also called to Doha on September 15 to deliberate a joint response.
