Pakistan and Palestine have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the health sector, managers confirmed on Wednesday.
The agreement was signed by the Federal Minister of Health Mustafa Kamal and the Palestinian ambassador during a ceremony attended by senior health officials, including the federal health secretary Hamid Yaqoob, an additional health secretary and the Director General of Health.
The Federal Minister of Health, Mustafa Kamal, has announced that a Pakistani-Palestine health group will be created in the next 30 days to supervise the implementation of the agreement and guides practical collaboration.
He said that the objective of cooperation would include advanced medical fields such as interventional cardiology, organ transplantation, orthopedic surgery, endoscopic ultrasound and burning and plastic surgery. Joint efforts will also be continued in infectious diseases, ophthalmology and pharmaceutical products, as well as collaborative research opportunities.
“The aim of this agreement is to promote closer collaboration to improve the health and well-being of the inhabitants of the two fraternal nations,” said Kamal. “We will continue to extend all possible supports to our Palestinian brothers and sisters in the field of health. The hearts of the inhabitants of Pakistan beat with Palestine, and we are ready to help them in any way possible. ”
The Palestinian ambassador welcomed the initiative, saying: “Palestine and Pakistan are fraternal countries. Together, we will work for improving the health and well-being of our peoples. ”
