Islamabad calls on Yemeni parties to engage constructively, warns against unilateral measures amid territorial crisis
Pakistan has expressed its full support for Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic efforts to ensure peace and stability in Yemen, while welcoming the role of the UAE in this process.
“Pakistan is closely monitoring recent developments in Yemen,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday. The statement comes amid a sharp escalation in Yemen, where the Southern Transitional Council (STC) took control of two main eastern provinces in early December.

Saudi Arabia publicly demanded the STC’s withdrawal from the provinces on Thursday, calling it an “unjustified escalation,” while the STC accused Riyadh of launching airstrikes against its positions on Friday. The STC now effectively controls most of the former “South Yemen”, raising fears of a resumption of conflict in a civil war that has lasted since 2014.
The Foreign Ministry stressed the need to maintain Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity, expressing hope that “Yemeni stakeholders will avoid any unilateral measures that could lead to further escalation of the situation.”
Pakistan called on all Yemeni parties to engage with each other constructively and in good faith, towards a negotiated political solution based on agreed parameters.
“Pakistan expresses its hope that the ongoing diplomatic efforts will result in concrete steps towards the establishment of lasting peace in the country and an end to the suffering of the Yemeni people,” the statement concluded.
