Pakistan, Tajikistan discuss cultural, digital cooperation

Minister of Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar in a meeting with Minister of Culture of Tajikistan Sattoriyon Matlubakhon Amonzoda reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Tajikistan in the field of digital media. Amonzoda is in Islamabad for the two-day Pakistani-Tajik cultural festival at Lok Virsa from December 19-20.

Tarar said digital media is an important tool for public engagement and cultural awareness.

Both sides stressed the need to further promote cultural and media cooperation and strengthen people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

They also agreed to work on formal cultural cooperation agreements ahead of a possible visit by the President of Tajikistan to Pakistan.

Tarar said events such as the Pakistan-Tajik cultural festival helped build cultural ties. He also highlighted the long-standing historical and cultural ties shared by the two states.

He added that Pakistan attached importance to cultural diplomacy.

Amonzoda said Tajikistan would continue cooperation with Pakistan in cultural exchanges and digital media, adding that common literary and cultural heritage would be highlighted to support bilateral relations.

The inaugural ceremony of the cultural festival was attended by Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, Tajik Ambassador Sharifzoda Yusuf Toir and other officials, diplomats and artists.
