Colombo: Pakistan and India are expected to compete today in a highly anticipated match of the Women’s Women’s World Cup in the current ICC at R Premadasa Stadium in Sri Lanka Colombo.
Pakistan suffered a massive defeat against Bangladesh during their first meeting of the tournament, while India managed to defeat Sri Lanka when the Women’s Cricket World Cup opened.
The match is likely to be affected by the rain, the forecasts predicting intermittent showers throughout the day. The rain is expected before the start of the match and can continue at different intensities during the match.
Colombo has already seen strong precipitation recently, and yesterday’s match between Sri Lanka and Australia was canceled due to persistent showers.
Statistics show that Pakistan has never beaten India in the female ODIs, the two teams competing 11 times, where India came out victorious on all occasions.
The tournament takes place from September 30 to November 2 in India and Sri Lanka, and Pakistan will play all its group matches at R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
If Pakistan passes to the semi-final on October 29 and the final on November 2, the two games will also be held in Colombo.
‘No hand handles’
Earlier, the secretary of the Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI), Devajit Saikia, said that Pakistan policy will remain unchanged in their next confrontation in the Women’s World Cup 2025.
In an interview BbcThe BCCI secretary said that there was no assurance that Indian players would serve the hand of their Pakistani counterparts in their next match in Colombo on October 5.
“I cannot predict anything, but our relationship with this country [Pakistan] is the same; There is no change last week, “said Saikia.
“India will play this match against Pakistan in Colombo, and all cricket protocols will be followed. I can only assure what is in the MCC [Marylebone Cricket Club] Cricket regulations, this will be done.
“That there are hand handles, that there will be hugs, I cannot assure you anything right now,” he added.
His comments arise in the context of the controversial and largely condemned driving of India at the recently finished Asian Cup 2025, where the male team refused to shake hands with Pakistani players and made political statements during post-match ceremonies and press conferences.
India has also refused to recover the trophy for the winners of the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Mohin Naqvi, who is also president of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
“Concentrate only on the game”
Addressing an avant-match presser on Saturday, the Pakistani female cricket captain Fatima Sana said that his team was only focused on the game.
However, Fatima has always been invited to share if she would miss the mind and camaraderie between the two teams, referring to their off -scope interactions after their match during the 2022 edition of Mega Event, when the Indian players surrounded the captain of Pakistan Bismah Maroof and cut on her six -month -old daughter.
Fatima, who was then part of the national team, in response, reiterated Pakistan’s position to realize the mind but stressed that their main objective is to “stay focused” on the game.
“Our main objective is to play well. Our relationship with the other teams is good. We will try to achieve the spirit of the game,” said Fatima.
“What happened before, as with Bismah’s daughter, when everyone got involved and appreciated together, as players, we all like such moments. But the main thing is to stay focused on what we came here,” she added.
The Pakistani captain also rejected the concept of ratings against them as they drag India by 11-0 in their head-to-head record in the female ODIs and rather stressed that his team had the potential to beat any high side, declaring that the records are supposed to be broken.
