Pakistan is expected to increase its defense budget by 159 billion rupees for the next fiscal 2025-26, bringing the total allowance to RS2.281 billion, Express News reported.
According to official sources, the proposed budget represents an increase of 7.49% compared to the allocation for the current financial year of 2,122 billion rupees for 2024-25.
During the previous year (2023-2024), the defense budget was 1,858 billion rupees. The government increased defense expenses by 263.2 billion rupees during the current year, marking an increase of 14.16% compared to the previous year.
The constant rise in trend reflects continuous hierarchy by the government of military and national security expenditure in the midst of broader budgetary planning. More details on sectoral allowances and new areas of spending are expected in the official budgetary announcement later this year.
