THE UNITED NATIONS:
Pakistan called for greater investment in conflict prevention and peaceful resolution of disputes, as reaffirmed by the Security Council in its resolution (2788).
“We must revive the spirit of Helsinki, avoid confrontation, invest more in dialogue and diplomacy, and renew our unwavering commitment to developing mutually agreed confidence and security building measures (CBMs),” Pakistan Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad told the 15-member Council on Monday.
He spoke after a presentation by the current president of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Finnish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elina Valtonen.
