Pakistan, United Russia for World Peace: Gilani

Islamabad:

Senate President Yousuf Raza Gilani said Pakistan and Russia share common goals, security and global multipolarity in global affairs.

He made these remarks at a meeting with the president of the Council of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko, held on the sidelines of the Assembly of the Inter-Parle Union (IPU) in Tashkent.

Gilani said that the evolutionary relationship of Pakistan and Russia is rooted in mutual respect and increasingly wide cooperation in defense, trade, energy and multilateral platforms such as the OCS.

The two parties have agreed to improve the institutional links between their respective parliaments, including exchange visits, the Renaissance of parliamentary friendship groups and coherent dialogue to meet shared challenges. Gilani recognized the importance of continuous defense collaboration and suggested greater concentration on the dialogue of security, trade in military training and the coordination of the fight against terrorism.

Bilateral trade showing a positive dynamic, the two parties have discussed the diversification of economic ties in fields such as energy, agriculture, pharmaceutical and computer products.

The president of the Senate pleaded to establish banking channels and improved connectivity in regional executives.

Pakistan has expressed strong support for the role of Russia in promoting regional stability and multi -polar global governance.
