Pakistan, water deepens economic cooperation

Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates signed five agreements on Thursday to stimulate bilateral cooperation in different fields, including bank, railways, mining and investment in infrastructure.

The documents were signed during the first official visit of the crown prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Pakistan, at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The crown prince and the Prime Minister witnessed the ceremony while civil servants on both sides exchanged the documents pre-signed with agreements and memorandums of understanding for cooperation in various fields.

Federal members of the cabinet and the personnel chief of the Syed Asim Munir army personnel and the members of the water delegation were also present.

The two countries have signed an agreement to promote bilateral cooperation in the banking field. Secretary Finance Imdadullah Bosal and CEO and MD of IHC Syed Basar SHUEB exchanged the documents.

The two parties also signed another agreement to stimulate cooperation in the area of ​​mining. The CEO of Pakistani railways Amir Ali Baloch and CEO Etihad Rail Shadi Malik exchanged documents for two memoranda for cooperation in the field of railways.

Likewise, the secretary of the board of directors of the investment Nadeem Chaudhary and the CEO of the advertising ports of Captain Muhammad Juma Al Shamisi exchanged documents for a memorandum of understanding in the field of investment in infrastructure.

Earlier, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi and the president of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan called Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his official visit to Pakistan on Thursday and discussed questions of bilateral interest.

It was the first official visit to Sheikh Khalid in Pakistan, as a crown prince.

The Prime Minister warmly welcomed the crown prince of Abu Dhabi while reaffirming Pakistan’s determination to further strengthen his historical and fraternal ties between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. The meeting has been followed by talks at the level of the delegation.

Recalling his most productive meeting with his Highness The Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of Water in Abu Dhabi earlier this month, the Prime Minister declared that it was a huge satisfaction that the two countries were now working more closely than ever before, to transform their excellent political links into a mutually beneficial economic partnership. The Prime Minister said that during his recent visit to Uzbekistan, the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistanis project was discussed and Uzbekistan has shown great interest in the project. He added that the project will benefit the ports of Gwadar and Abu Dhabi and would prove to change the situation for the whole region.

The Prime Minister praised the coherent and strong support for water in Pakistan in various fields, including at difficult times. He deeply appreciated the lively interest manifested by the United Arab Emirates in the widening of his investment portfolio in Pakistan and pointed out that the recent successful investment initiatives between various Pakistani entities and the ports of Abu Dhabi were a brilliant example of this robust and constant expansion cooperation.

Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed, who was accompanied by a delegation including senior officials and business leaders, thanked the Prime Minister and reaffirmed the firm support for water for the economic development and prosperity of Pakistan.

On this occasion, the two leaders also witnessed the exchange of several memoranda of understanding between the two parties. Mous / agreements have been signed in the fields of banking, mining, infrastructure and railway development.
