Pakistan will not strike first but will strongly respond to any assault: PM deputy

Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, clearly told the international community that Pakistan will not take the first step in any situation, but would respond in force if the aggression is made by India.

Speaking in the 2025 regional dialogue organized by the Institute of Regional Studies in Islamabad, Dar said that the world was going through a difficult phase, in particular the region, which is confronted with serious challenges. He stressed that peace and prosperity should be the common goal of everyone.

He said Pakistan has always recommended peace in the region and has always raised their voice against attack.

Referring to the recent incident to Pahalgam, he described it as an operation of false flag aimed at diverting attention from the current freedom movements in India.

He added that several Indian states bear witness to serious human rights violations and that India’s actions endanger the lives of millions in the region.

DAR has also mentioned that in recent days, he has had discussions with leaders from various countries concerning the regional situation. Briefings were provided to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the ambassadors of different nations and representatives of the United Nations.

Ishaq Dar said that after the recent restrictions on India, the Pakistan National Security Committee made key decisions, which were implemented immediately.

He said that India’s suspension of the Industry Water Treaty is a serious violation of international law, adding that India has the unilateral authority to suspend or terminate the treaty.

DAR accused India of having pushed the region to the war and said that Pakistan had responded in kind to the actions of India while remaining attached to regional peace.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also called the Pahalgam incident an operation of false flag orchestrated by India. He said world leaders have urged Pakistan to have restraint. While reaffirming Pakistan’s political farm to condemn all forms of terrorism, DAR asked for how a case -related affair was recorded within ten minutes of the incident.

He said the National Security Committee had decided to give a strong response to any assault. While the regional situation is evolving, Pakistan will in no case take the first step.

However, if the attack is imposed, Pakistan will respond with complete national resolution and force.

Dar added that Pakistan had quickly thwarted the attempted adventurism of the Indian Air Force and reaffirmed that the country would never allow its territory to be used against any other nation. He urged the international community to immediately take an opinion from the worsening of the regional situation.

The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that the United Nations had adopted clear resolutions on the right to self-determination in the occupied territories. He said there had been serious violations of these resolutions of the United Nations Security Council in Jammu and Kashmir (Iiojk).

The problem of cashmere, he underlined, cannot be sidelined and must be resolved in accordance with the United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmir people.
