Defense Minister Khawaja Asif warned on Friday that Pakistan would strike if India built a structure on the Indus river in violation of the Industry Water Treaty.
Islamabad and New Delhi have experienced an increased period of tensions since the attack on April 22 against tourists in the picturesque seaside resort of Pahalgam illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (iiojk), in which at least 26 people were killed.
New Delhi has linked Islamabad to the attack without providing evidence and has taken a wave of punitive measures to demarcate the links, in particular by suspending the Cie, by revoking the visas of the Pakistanis, and by closing the border crossing of Wagah-Attari, among others.
Islamabad, in response, ordered the expulsion of Indian diplomats and military advisers, canceling visas for Indian nationals, with the exception of Sikhs pilgrims and closing the main border crossing on its side. Islamabad also denied his involvement in the attack and proposed to participate in a credible and transparent investigation.
Speaking on the PK Press Club News program “Naya Pakistan”, the Minister of Defense said: “Certainly, if they try to build a kind of structure, we will hit him.” He said that the building of any structure on the Industry river by violating the TID would be considered an Indian aggression against Pakistan.
“Aggression is not only to draw cannons or bullets; He has many faces. One of these faces is [blocking or diverting water]This could lead to deaths due to hunger and thirst, “he added.
The security tsar warned: “If they have an architectural attempt, then Pakistan will destroy this structure.”
“But for the moment, we are heading for forums at our disposal, from the IWT [Indus Waters Treaty]. We will continue this case.
The Minister was of the opinion that it would not be easy for New Delhi to rape the TFI, adding that Islamabad would address the stakeholders concerned on the unilateral STO suspension by the Indian government.
The Minister of Defense criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “stage the drama” for political gains in the context of the next elections.
Answering a question, the minister said global pressure on India has increased more than ever. “I will not yet say that the threat has been avoided,” he added.
The Minister explained that New Delhi had not obtained the world support he expected, adding that the government led by Modi could not present evidence in support of his false complaints. Asif also said that the international community had rejected Modi’s allegations against Pakistan.
Referring to the rhetoric and allegations of India against Pakistan, the minister said: “India is continuously encouraging, but we will only take reprisal measures.”
