Pakistan is expected to launch another Sessens satellite from a Chinese launch center next week, the space research and upper atmosphere (Suparco) announced on Sunday. The satellite will improve earth observation capacities to support the national management of resources and strengthen disaster response systems.
The new satellite, which is expected to be launched since July 31 of the Xichang satellite launch center in China (XSLC), should serve a wide range of national priorities – precision agriculture and urban planning for infrastructure monitoring, transport networks and risk assessment. It will also strengthen preparation for disasters by providing real -time alerts for floods, earthquakes, landslides, melting glaciers and deforestation.
Suparco has said that the integration of this satellite with PRSS – 1 (launched in July 2018) and EO – 1 (January 2025) will strengthen the spatial ecosystem of Pakistan as part of space policy and the vision of national space, aimed at positioning the country as a leader in regional space technology.

With versatile data acquisition capacities under various environmental conditions, the satellite will be launched from the Chinese Xichang Satellite launch center under a bilateral spatial cooperation framework.
The Pakistan space program has experienced several stages in the past two years. In January 2025, China placed in orbit the EO – 1 satellite of Pakistan, designed to improve resource monitoring and disaster prediction.
In May 2024, its first lunar satellite was deployed aboard the China Chang’e mission – 6, and subsequent plans include participation in the Lunar Exploration Chang’e – 8 in China.
