Pakistan’s Foreign Office responded to the information according to which its ambassador to Turkmenistan, KK Wagan, was denied entry to the United States, confirming that the diplomat was on a private visit when he was arrested by the American immigration authorities.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday that the case was investigating. “The Pakistani diplomat was traveling for personal reasons and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs examines the issue.”
The United States had denied the entrance to the Pakistan ambassador to Turkmenistan, Kk Wagan, and expelled it when it arrived in Los Angeles, diplomatic sources confirmed.
The main diplomat, who held a valid American visa, would have visited a personal visit when immigration officials arrested him and would have ordered his immediate return to his last departure port.
A senior official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad confirmed the expulsion of Wagan, declaring that the question had occurred due to an “immigration objection”. Diplomatic sources suggest that the American immigration system has reported its entry on “controversial visa references”, but specific details remain vague.
Other sources quoted by local media have suggested that refusal of the entry could be linked to cases deposited during the previous passage of the envoy to the United States.
Wagan, an experienced diplomat, held various key positions, especially as a deputy consul general in Los Angeles and ambassador to Oman. His sudden expulsion prompted the Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs to launch an investigation into the incident.
The Wagan ambassador is expected to be recalled in Islamabad for an explanation.
