Iran’s retaliatory missile strikes against the United States and Israel have disrupted the Middle East region stretching to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to UAE authorities, air defense systems were activated over Dubai when aerial threats were detected.
Exclusive footage circulating on social media shows interceptors engaging aerial targets directly over the waters adjacent to Palm Jumeirah.
People also reported hearing loud explosions as UAE defense systems destroyed incoming projectiles.
Amid much speculation and viral videos showing fire and smoke at Dubai’s iconic Palm Jumeirah, official sources have confirmed that the artificial island was not directly hit by an Iranian missile.
Following interceptions on adjacent waters, debris from the destroyed missiles rained down on the Palm Jumeirah area.
Falling debris sparked a fire in a building at the luxury Fairmont The Palm hotel, leading to speculation that the hotel itself had been hit.
The incident left four people injured and the fire is now under control.
The Dubai Media Office also issued an official statement clarifying the nature of the incident.
