Panel Na for more weight at the MDCAT in university admissions

The Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Health proposed various reforms for the admission test for medical and dental colleges (MDCAT) on Thursday, in particular by increasing its weight for admission to college.

The committee met its president of Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani in the president. The meeting discussed questions concerning Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), the medical education examination system, regulatory failures in the health care sector and other issues.

The Committee has raised serious questions about medical examinations and PMDC performance reforms. The committee was informed that MDCAD would be held on Sunday, October 5 throughout the country.

The Committee spoke concerned about the lack of transparency, the disparity between exams and injustice in the MDCAT. He suggested that the weight of the result of the MDCAT is increased, so that deserving students can obtain opportunities to achieve medical education.

The Committee also proposed a central examination system and the creation of a database of around 3,000 to 4,000 standard questions for all the provinces. The Committee has also questioned an unjust depression of colleges by the PMDC, political interference and injustice in the registration of students.

The Committee also discussed complaints concerning various medical colleges and hospitals. He asked rapid action to solve the problems faced by students graduate from Kyrgyzstan.
