Panel to examine the performance of Pak missions

The federal government has launched a launch process to improve the performance of the Pakistani missions abroad while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assigned the task to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar.

The first meeting of the special subcommittee formed by DAR took place on Thursday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The subcommittee of eight members, chaired by the manager and member of the National Assembly Bilal Azhar Kayani.

High officials of the Ministries of the Interior, Trade, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Information and Radiation, Pakistanis abroad and the institutional reform cell of the firm division participated in Reunion.

The subcommittee examined the existing structure of the Pakistani embassies. The ministries concerned informed the committee of the number of officers and staff in the Pakistani embassies and their respective responsibilities.

The subcommittee has decided to start reviewing each Pakistani mission next week. He will also ask for recommendations from respective Pakistani ambassadors. Pakistani ambassadors will participate in meetings via a virtual link.

Future meetings will focus on the problems encountered by Pakistani embassies, including budget, workforce and responsibilities.

The subcommittee will compile complete recommendations and present them to the central committee, “rationalize Pakistan’s missions abroad”, led by Ishaq Dar.
