Passenger trains rates increased by 2%

Pakistan railways made a 2% increase in passenger trains tariffs for the price of high -speed diesel (HSD). This increase in prices will take effect from today on July 18.

An undated office memorandum seen by L’Express PK Press Club ordered the director to guarantee the announcement of new prices on the public relations website.

The railways have also increased the rate of its freight trains carrying coal by 3% and trains transporting rock phosphates and fertilizers by 2%. These hikes will apply from July 21.

The government increased the prices of petroleum products to Rs11 by liter on Tuesday for the second half of July in a regressive stage which should exacerbate the economic difficulties of people.

According to a notification issued by the finance division on July 15, the price of gasoline increased from RS5.36 – from RS266.79 to RS272.15 per liter, while the price of the HSD increased from RS11.37 by period of RS272.98 to Rs284.35 for the period from July 16 to 31.

This increase in the HSD price has increased the cost of RP operation of RS4 million [39,86,500] per day and around 199 million rands [119,500,000] per month. On average, the PR consumes around 350,000 liters of HSD daily.
