The New England Patriots are back.

There was a glimmer of hope in the post-Tom Brady era when rookie Mac Jones led the Pats to the playoffs, but it ultimately fizzled and dark times followed in Foxborough.

Drake Maye and Mike Vrabel came to the rescue, however.

Kayshon Boutte is in his third season with New England and he’s seen it all. He has had as many head coaches as seasons in the league (Bill Belichick, Jerod Mayo, Vrabel). In fact, Boutte has had six offensive coordinators since college, so the coaching changes in New England were nothing more than normal for him.

But now it looks like it will finally have some continuity.

“Last year, it wasn’t the way we wanted it to be, but just coming in, trusting everything he said and the way he wanted things to go,” Boutte said in a recent interview with PK Press Club Digital about his current head coach. “He was a player at one point, so he’s a players’ coach in our eyes. He wants the best for us as players. Trusting everything he says, I think everyone did a great job, and now we’re where we are today.”

As for Maye, Boutte has seen a lot of growth from the second-year quarterback.

PAT MCAFEE DEFENDS HAVING Trump on show, SAYS HE EXTENDED INVITATION TO OBAMA: ‘HE’S THE PRESIDENT’

“We had some success last year, but based on last season compared to this season, he moves around the pocket a lot more, finds open receivers, always reads defenses well, trusts his receivers to make plays. That’s a big thing for quarterbacks – confidence. Every time he throws you the ball, catch it, and that also builds his confidence and let him fly. Our work together has just taken the offense to the level superior.”

Success on the field also helped Boutte get his name out there. Yes, his name is pronounced the way you think it is, and yes, it was an easy joke to make.

“I’ve heard a lot about it my whole life,” he said.

But Boutte has the last word against critics and himself with his new partnership with Charmin, who has just released a month-long “Forever Roll”. Fully landscaped, it is approximately the same number of feet as the Washington Monument.

“I think it was different for me, you know? It was a good idea,” he said. “Charmin loves booty.” (Or Boutte?)

“The whole idea is good. I love it. It’s fun to joke around with. The Charmin forever roll is amazing. Something I’ve never had, a roll of tissues that lasts a month. It’s a good thing.”

It’s a different era of Patriots football. The days of Brady and Belichick are over, and Boutte admitted he doesn’t want to think too much about the organization’s past, but instead focus on its present. And the gift is pretty nice.

Boutte’s Pats are 8-2 and on track to not only make the playoffs, but also earn a first-round bye. They will have the chance to continue their momentum Thursday night against the New York Jets.

“It’s been a great season, but it’s up to us to continue it,” Boutte said. “When it comes to sustained success, it’s all about what we put in day in and day out. At 8-2, we need to improve in November and December to play in January.”
