- Peacemaker The first of season 2 suggests a lot of signs on Batman
- The first episode of this season contains several references to The Dark Knight
- Other DCU projects have confirmed that the Caped Crusader already operates in this universe
Peacemaker Season 2 finally made its long -awaited debut – and the last payment of the popular HBO Max Show does not waste time let us know that Batman already exists in the DC (DCU) universe.
Admittedly, previous DCU projects have done so. Creature commandos Episode 6 revealed the Batman of the DCU for the first time – although in the form of a silhouette – while James Gunn Superman The film contained a wink and you will lack reference to Gotham City via a road panel.
Nevertheless, the first episode of PeacemakerThe second season of the second year brought home that Bruce Wayne has been working as her alter -ego vigilant for some time – and six specific Easter eggs that prove it.
Complete spoilers immediately follow for Pacifier 2‘s inaugural chapter.
The first of them occurs 12 minutes after this season’s opening match, entitled “The Ties that Grind”.
While Leota Adebayo and Chris Smith approached the place where the interview with this last gang of justice is organized, the place bears the name of Krank Toys.
A company founded and led by Griffin Krank, then taken over by his son Cosmo after the death of his father, the company based in Gotham City and the Krank family were not created for DC Comics. Indeed, they were specially designed for the 2004 animated series Batman (NB: Not to be confused with his homonym of film directed by Matt Reeves in 2022). In this show, the Kranks made futuristic but dangerous toys and, after Bruce Wayne used his considerable weight to stop him, Griffin adopted the pseudonym of Super-Vilain to take revenge on Wayne.
The next Batman Egg Egg of DCU original TV appears a few moments later. While Smith approaches the entrance to the building, one of his bodyguards opens the door and a visibly upset woman, dressed in a white rabbit costume, passes in front of Smith.
A criminal known as the white rabbit – the real name Jaina Hudson – exists in comics. And, since Hudson’s alias appears in the sequence of the end credits of episode 1, this individual is clear in “ The Ties that Grind ” is the worldly based in Gotham who lights up the moon like a crook. So, this is another fun reminder for a member of the Gallery of Stacked Voyeous of the Caped Crusader.
15 minutes of pass before the television series of Chapter 1 DCU drops its next reference Batman in the form of the agent of Argus Sasha Bordeaux, played here by Sol RodrÃguez.
Created by Greg Rucka and Shawn Martinbrough and its beginnings in “Detective Comics # 751” in December 2000, Bordeaux had great links with the Black Knight. I will not spoil anything from the history of his comic strip here in case one of it was adapted for its live taking in the DCU. However, speaking to me before the return of the show, RodrÃguez told me that she was “really love” if Bordeaux appears in the film by Batman de Dcu, which is currently entitled The courageous and the fat. We will see if his wish is granted after season 2.
Easter eggs number four appear – or rather heard – during the report, Rick Flag Sr looks before Bordeaux between his office to inform him of the “glitch” on which they kept an eye on Smith’s house (that is to say Smith using the quantum deployment chamber to access another dimension).
In the said news bulletin, anchor says that there have been three rashes at Belle Rive Pinnitire and Arkham in the past two months. The latter is, unsurprisingly, a reference to Arkham Asylum, the psychiatric hospital to which the super-villains captured by Batman are sent.
The penultimate Easter egg can be seen in the Smith house trophies room which exists in the alternative universe that we will see throughout season 2.
While Chris Smith of the DCU inspects a few cuts from framed newspapers of the heroic exploits of his family in this parallel dimension, one of these articles reveals that they have annoyed something like the rainbow creature. A powerful abominable snow character, this monster appeared for the first time in ‘Batman Vol. 1 # 134 ‘in September 1960. Created by Bill Finger and Sheldon Moldoff, he is from South America and has access to various superpowers, including pyrokinesis and the ability to spray objects, through his multicolored fur.
The final reference in one of the best HBO Max shows, the second season, is not specific to Batman. Given his links with the hero to whom he is linked, however, this still counts.
So what is it? When the Smith of the DCU trips outside and meets his brother Keith, who is alive and all adults in this alternative reality, the latter said to the old “I thought you were in Bludhaven”. It is the adjacent city of Gotham protected by Nightwing, alias Dick Grayson. He is one of the many people to assume the identity of Robin superheroes, that is to say Batman’s companion, in DC Comics.
