- The founder of Pebble, Eric Migicovsky, has just demonstrated the first watch of the Core 2 duo on his new Podcast
- The watch executes the operating system, although it is very obviously a prototype and currently lacks key features
- It is on the right track to ship in July, but Migicovsky warned that American customers will be affected by prices
The founder of Pebble, Eric Migicovsky, has just unveiled his latest smartwatch, The Core 2 Duo, on the first episode of his new Podcast.
Currently, it is always a development prototype, and Migicovsky has presented some of its functionalities, as well as the updating of its development and the sharing of disappointing news for us, intelligent money fans concerning prices.
You can see Migicovsky demonstrate the SmartWatch prototype, currently held with a tape at the back, in the video below.
Its low -power electronic paper screen and its use of buttons to move in the menus, recall some of the best Garmin watches, such as the Solar Garmin Instinct 3 with a similar display in black and white and pixel memory reminiscent of the old game boys.
The use of such a low power screen would allow the smart watch to last much longer than its competitors, up to 30 days, which is impressive compared to the best models of Apple Watch 36 hours.

To watch
While features such as the clock in real time have not yet been activated, the Pebble operating system seems to work well, because Migicovsky uses the four -button system to navigate the device. It also shows various community watch faces, many days of glory from Pebble.
“I have a watch face at the moment, which is simply ridiculous is a octopus holding a ice cream,” he said. “Whenever I look at my wrist, I just smile, it’s something I really like. I love having a device in my life that makes me happy.”
Migicovsky also shows how the PEBBLE operating system works on the camera, guiding the spectator through the way of accessing features as the intelligent alarm.
In addition to the software, it shows or mentions hardware elements, including the silicon strap, which seems very basic, and the charger, which is the same as the old pebble chargers, except that this version is an adapter of Dongle attached to a keychain, rather than a cable.
Pebble prices
In the video, Migicovsky in detail on the expedition, declaring that despite the finished state of the watch, his company Core Devices is on the right track in July.
However, there will be pressure for American customers, because the devices will be made (like most of the consumer technology goods) in China, which means that Donald Trump prices will have an impact on the final price. Fortunately, Migicovsky has a plan.
“For all non -American orders … We will ship directly to Asia, so your shipment will not be subject to American prices.
“The American prices on smart watches made in China are 27.5%. Our plan is that basic devices to import all shipments in the United States, so we pay a price only on the cost of our factory. This means that the additional cost for each shipment will be between $ 10 and $ 25 more.”
