The leaders of the opposition party dismissed a broad side against the law on the prevention of electronic crimes recently reacted (PECA), qualifying it as a law of gaping the media and usurpting the fundamental right of the freedom of expression of the people .
Addressing a seminar on the “challenges faced by the media in Pakistan”, organized by Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Jamiat Ulema-E-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, qualified of the law on PECA.
Fazl said the government should not make a code of conduct for journalists, but that it should be prepared by the journalists themselves. He added that each dictator had violated the sacred character of the Constitution, Democracy and Parliament.
Speaking during the seminar, the leader of the PachToonkhwa Mill Awami (PKMAP) party, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, said that false people had been brought to Parliament, who only took orders and did not represent the people. He praised Fazl’s efforts in the passage of a 26th balanced constitutional amendment.
He added that even if the current government withdrew the PECA law, it will not be acceptable. He said the movement against the government should not stop. The PECA Act, he said, was brought to eliminate false news and asked for what was the remedy when the government lied to the people.
Majlis-E-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) The Chief Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said that a pillar of the legislative assembly had fallen, when the parliamentarians were picked up overnight. All the changes that had been adopted were not possible if the political parties were not hypocrites.
