- Perplexity AI released a mobile app for Android
- Perplexity Assistant features voice, text, and camera interactions for tasks like booking rides and identifying objects
- Assistant integrates with apps and leverages real-time insights and task automation
AI Conversational Search Engine Perplexity is going mobile on the Google Play Store with a new Android app. Peeplexity’s app presents itself as a sort of digital Swiss army knife that can handle tasks for you, including booking and identifying items through your phone’s camera. Best of all, the app is free and speaks 15 languages.
By leveraging Perplexity’s own search engine, the assistant can also tap web information in real time, so it’s not just a matter of regurgitating pre-programmed responses. This should, in theory, make it smarter and more versatile than many of its competitors. To juggle all of these abilities, perplexity can maintain context across multiple tasks. This means he won’t double-cross you and remember what you like and don’t like.
“You can do lots of cool things like book an Uber, find dinner tables, play an old YouTube video, play songs, get directions, and translate Shakespeare, all with voice and a simple action button or a gesture,” explained Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas , for example, get an alert before a match basketball.”
Let’s say you want Perplexity to help with your dinner plans. The AI will search for restaurants, check reviews, suggest dishes for you, and reserve the table on OpenTable, all in a single conversation. Srinivas admitted that restaurant reservation “doesn’t always work” but promised it would be sorted soon.

Perplexity resolved
This launch comes on the heels of Perplexity’s broader expansion efforts, including the rollout of Sonar, an API that allows companies to integrate Perplexity’s search technology into their own applications. This is part of a growth strategy that also includes the acquisition of professional social media platform Read.cv. Obviously, Perplexity is trying to build an ecosystem where its AI not only answers your questions but also becomes an indispensable part of your daily workflow. That he will succeed in creating a full-fledged AI assistant that people cannot live without seeing
Perplexity faces a crowded market, so anything that stands out will be helpful. To beat Chatgpt, Google Gemini or Apple’s latest improvement of Siri via Apple Intelligence will require a lot of perplexing creativity. Still, if Perplexity’s app can deliver consistently with its multimodal capabilities and app integrations, it has a real chance to muscle out these rivals, at least in part.
People like novelty, but they hate frustration. If perplexity can quickly avoid or squash bugs, you might see a lot of people becoming much less perplexed by AI applications as a concept.
