John Daly decided to sit on the PGA championship and to give up asserting for a second title in a major when he challenged the way in which his golf schedule worked.
Daly competes on the champions of the PGA Tour and will be in the tradition of the regions in Birmingham, in Alabama. The event takes place the same weekend as the PGA championship, which will be at the Hollow Club Quail in Charlotte, in North Carolina.

“I can go and miss the cup and get $ 6,000,” Daly said about the PGA championship. “But I play Birmingham. I love regions. They are a big sponsor. But why program the regions the same week as the PGA championship, where I can see Brooks (Koepka) and all the guys?”
Tradition is one of the five majors of the PGA Tour champions calendar. Doug Barron won in 2024 and Steve Stricker won the trophy in 2023 and 2022. Playing the tournament this weekend would have opposed Mother’s Day and having it two weeks ago would have displayed the race in Talladega de Nascar.

Daly is still faced with health problems. He underwent surgery on the left in January. He said his biggest problems were to cross the ball on three -quarter shots and put.
He was 27 years old at the Insperity Invitational.
However, Daly remained unattained even through 16 bladder surgeries and cancer.
“I’m like Lazarus-I come back from the dead,” he said. “Waking up is a victory for me.”

Daly won the PGA championship in 1991.
