Rory McILroy was fresh out of his career at the Grand Slam, finally winning the Masters and winning his place at the top of the golf world.

While he was preparing for the PGA championship with Quail Hollow in Charlotte, in North Carolina, McILroy was questioned about his ice reception towards Bryson Dechambeau during the Masters. The two were twinned together for the final round in Augusta and Dechambeau mentioned that McILroy “did not speak to him” once during.

McILroy pushed him back when he spoke to journalists on Wednesday.

“I don’t know what he expected,” he said. “I mean, we are trying to win the masters. I will not try to be his best companion there.

“Listen, everyone approaches the game in different ways. And yes, I was focused on myself and what I had to do and that’s really all that was. It was nothing against him. I had the impression that it was what I had to do to try to get the best of me that day.”

Dechambeau said last month that McILroy seemed to be in the area.

Despite a day filled with spots, McILroy ended the slam in a career with his first victory at Augusta National after defeating Justin Rose in a playoff series with a holes out of 18 after Rose missed a 15 -foot putt for Birdie.

McILroy will now be looking for a third PGA champion title. He won in 2012 and 2014.
