Many golfers had their fair share of dissatisfaction during the US Open of last weekend at the Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania.
Shane Lowry proclaimed outwards, “F — This place” after missing a putt, and Sunday, despite the late charge of JJ Spaun to bring back his first major, only three people finished with the peer during the last round.
One of these three players was Xander Schauffele, whose +6 was tied in the 12th row of the tournament. The conditions were brutal of the jump, but the double major champion thought that the course was “very fair”.

“Everyone had to play the same course,” Schauffele told PK Press Club Digital in a recent interview.
Schauffele admitted that there were “strange ruptures” that occurred throughout the weekend when the golfers propelled the line with danger. However, “you don’t have to hit him in bunkers or rough – you can just hit him in fairways.”
“I thought the course was right. I thought it was more playable because it was raining a little, and the fairways and the Greens were more forgiving,” he added. “You must have played golf very well, that’s what you are supposed to do to win a US Open. You saw JJ take control of this rain delay, that’s what you are supposed to do to win and be a major champion there.”
Schauffele will be one of the many great champions of the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut, this weekend for the Travelers championship, where the last seven winning scores were -22, -23, -19, -13, -19, -17 and -17, a fleece opposite to open scores.
The PGA and the Open Champion 2024 won travelers in 2022, and although everyone wants to shoot below, Schauffele said that having both types of golf is a good balance.

“A mixture of the two is nice. It’s healthy. I have never moved from the US Open Challenge, and I never moved away from -25 winning a tournament,” said Schauffele. “If you were to play Oakmont in the United States open every week for 20 weeks, you would erase yourself, and vice versa. If you were to play a class where 25-Under wins for 20 weeks, you would also get rid of it. I think that having a split and a small variety is pleasant for us.”
This year’s travelers have exactly what Schauffele wants to take fire before the open, the Fedex Cup and the Ryder Cup with Black Bethpage in what was a “strange” season for him.
“They have definitely done certain things to make TPC River Highlands more difficult,” said Schauffele. “Previously, the fairways were lower, they changed a few holes to make it more difficult and less friendly … You are rewarded for very good shots, but there is water on many holes, there is deeply thick on short -term pins, I don’t really call it – I don’t really call it – you are still playing.”

However, it will be a clear difference compared to what happened in the west of Pennsylvania.
“It will be weird to be able to do seven or eight snecks in circles against Oakmont.”
