“I’m (finished),” Rivers said. “I have a son who will be a senior and I groomed the St. Michael’s football team. We got beat in the semifinals two years in a row,” Rivers said. “So this will be his senior year. My middle son will be in ninth grade. They’ll be on the same team together.
“So it’ll be fun to have the boys back home. The school was really excited. A lot of them came to the game last week. It’ll be fun. It’ll jumpstart our offseason program to say the least. Maybe the things I say to them, they’ll take a little more seriously now that I just played.”
Rivers said he knew he was done in 2020 and returning this season to replace Daniel Jones, who suffered a torn Achilles tendon, in an attempt to lead the Colts to the playoffs was just perfect timing.
He said if another team had called, he wouldn’t have had a chance to do what he did.

“Everything lined up perfectly,” he said. “It was a place I had been, a team I knew the offense was exactly the same. The coach I knew. It was all those things that made it the perfect storm.
“I’m back on the bench. It was a fun three weeks of blur that no one saw coming, including me, and that will be it.”
The Colts will accompany Riley Leonard for the last game of the season.
Rivers, 44, was a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame before deciding to move back to join the Colts. Indianapolis couldn’t get the win with Rivers at the helm.
