- A new leak says that Philips Hue is working on a video doorbell
- It would represent the next major extension for the secure range Philips Hue
- Philips Hue already makes lights, contact sensors and security cameras
While Philips Hue makes a treasure of lights, from simple bulbs to sophisticated lighting, he also makes security cameras and connected wall caps that are part of the smart house.
We have just received our best look at what could be Philips Hue’s next one. As Spotted by the Hue blogPhilips Hue worked on a doorbell, and now the point of sale has found images of the “secure bell of Philips Hue” in the last update of the application.
It is true, the competitive world of smart video bells could get a new entry, and for those already invested in the Philips Hue ecosystem, the plug-and-play aspect that the name alone teases could be quite exciting.
In addition, this would help develop the current range of Philips Hue Secure which is currently made up of security cameras and contact sensors. All this can be personalized to operate alongside Philips Hue Smartlights.
As revealed by the images shared in this new report, Philips Hue does not seem to turn the work formula for a video bell. The alleged video doorbell of the brand will be a vertically large rectangle with the lens and the sensors of the physical camera at the top and a large circular ring button at the bottom.
If this turns out to be the case, Philips Hue’s video doorbell will just adapt to the many other competing options, including the range of Ring video doorbell. In addition, the report notes that it will have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, probably with the first for the configuration and the second to connect to the Internet.
Hue Blog also notes that a QR code will be necessary for the configuration, suggesting that “the camera will probably transmit video signals in encrypted form”. This is good news for security, especially since it will give a view from your front door looking outwards.
Like the other video doorbells, the secure door of Philips Hue will probably require a wired installation, which means that it will not be able to operate only on the batteries. This makes it a slightly more limiting option for tenants or people without the necessary power wiring.
Given the wired needs, this doorbell could probably cause a chime on a pre -existing ring box that you may have installed in your home.

Either the route, the latest specifications, the name and the first image – finally, a numerically sketched representation – from the first doorbell of Philips Hue, certainly build the media and tease an option probably more premium which is specially designed to work well in the existing ecosystem. Since many Philips Hue products operate with other smart house systems with a bridge, the doorbell should also play well with Amazon, Google or Apple Home.
Of course, nothing is official until Philips Hue confirms, and so far, the brand has not even teased that the doorbell arrives. Hue Blog has made a good report on the possibility of a bell of the brand, but this most recent leak, graciousness of the Philips Hue application, is our best look to date. The report also notes that a launch is not scheduled until later in 2025, probably in the fall (August to October), it could therefore be several months before hearing anything official.
