Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) should resume direct flights between Dubai and Skardu from Friday (today) offering travelers practical access to one of the most picturesque and most distant northern destinations in Pakistan, App reported.
The seasonal flight service was officially announced during a ceremony held at the Dubai office of Pia, assisted by the regional director of Airline, Sarmad Aizas, and the Pakistani consul General in Dubai, Hussain Muhammad. The event, which included a cake cut -off ceremony, also had members of a group of foreign tourists reserved for inaugural flight.
Speaking on occasion, the Consul General said: “This theft makes it easier for Pakistani expatriates, but also opens the doors of more than 200 nationalities living to water to discover the intact beauty of Skardu and Gilgit-Baltistan.”
Skardu, located about 570 kilometers north of Islamabad, is known for its dramatic mountain landscapes, including some of the highest peaks in the world such as K2, as well as cold deserts and panoramic valleys.
The direct flight service reduces the journey time of more than 20 hours by road via the Karakoram motorway within three hours by plane. The region attracts visitors all year round.
The summer season in Gilgit-Baltistan offers a respite from the heat of the Gulf, with temperatures generally lower than 20 ° C. In winter, the region is transformed by snow, attracting tourists for its unique cold desert safari experience in the backdrop of snowy peaks.
PIA officials have expressed the hope that the route would favor tourism more in the northern areas of the country and would ensure greater convenience of travel to the Pakistani abroad and international tourists.
