Karachi: City hospitals attend an influx of patients with respiratory diseases, as changing weather conditions have an impact on public health.

In accordance with the emergency liability of the Civil Hospital of Dr. Ruth Pfau, more than 150 patients with respiratory diseases visit the establishment daily. Meanwhile, the number of respiratory patients also exceeded 150 per day at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, a hospital health official revealed.

Medical experts said children were most affected by the increase in respiratory infections. Many patients arrive with complaints of sore throat, flu and persistent cough.

Medical experts warn asthma that people suffering from the worsening of symptoms due to current weather conditions.

Health professionals have urged citizens to take precautions, especially during Ramadan. They recommend avoiding cold and lower drinks, which can exacerbate throat infections and other respiratory problems.

In addition, they also advise compulsory masks wearing during their adventure outside to reduce exposure to allergens and pollutants that can worsen the respiratory conditions and slow down the spread of infections.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted hot and dry weather for the city in the coming 24 hours, contributing more to the discomfort caused by seasonal changes.

Temperatures should reach up to 38 degrees Celsius, with 40%registered humidity levels. The hot and dry winds are currently blowing at a soft pace.
