Pindi finalizes the Ashura security plan

The preparations for the six main Ashura mourning processions, including Zuljanah, Tazia and Alam processions in Rawalpindi, were completed.

The Ashura security plan has been approved and immediately implemented.

As part of the plan, the Rangers were called, while the army units will remain on a red alert. Air monitoring of processions will be carried out via the helicopter.

According to officials, 8,500 police officers, 700 civil defense volunteers and 100 women volunteers were deployed for security. Mobile phone and internet services will remain suspended from 6:30 a.m. to midnight on Ashura day.

Surveillance of trial drones will also be carried out.

A control room has been established and the bombs elimination squads will accompany the routes. Three ambulances will be parked at the front and rear of the processions, as well as mobile medical clinics. After Maghrib prayers, Iesco light vehicles will provide lighting along the roads.

A ban has been imposed on riding, while the spill of building materials, waste or debris on the routes of the five main processions is strictly prohibited.

Mosques along the roads will remain closed except during prayer hours and will be otherwise sealed. The speakers will only be authorized for the call to prayer (Azan).

Stores and markets along the roads will remain closed and sealed.

Residents of houses, squares and shops along the routes have been prohibited to stand up or take a look at the roofs or windows.

The police will be stationed on the roofs in sensitive areas. The police units mounted will escort the front and rear of the processions. The surveillance will be carried out by 350 cameras in a closed circuit.

Entrance to processions will be strictly through the doors of the promenade. Transporting matches, cigarette, weapons or stick lighters has been prohibited.

Offenders will be charged under the anti -terrorist law. The storage of bricks or stones on the roofs along the procession tracks has also been prohibited. The parking of vehicles and motorcycles along the routes is prohibited and the offenders will have their vehicles seized.

The morning of Ashura at the time of Fajr prayer, all the routes will be sealed using containers, trucks and barbed wire.

In total, 137 streets and narrow tracks along the procession tracks will also be sealed with tractor carts, containers, hand carts and barbed wire, and police staff will be deployed.
